God Himself chose St. Joseph, Terror of Demons, to defend Our Lady and Our Lord during their earthly lives. When Mary was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit, St. Joseph was obedient to the angel, took Mary as his wife and defended her. When Herod threatened to kill the Christ Child, St. Joseph took Jesus and Mary to Egypt to protect the infant from harm. (c.f. Mt. 1:18-25; Mt. 2:13-15)
