Q: Is this an approved scapular replacement?

A: Yes. The scapular medal was approved by Pope St. Pius X as a replacement however, valid enrollment in the (cloth) scapulars must be made before the substitution. Additionally the medals must be properly blessed and contain the specific imagery of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on one side and Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the reverse.

A: No. Please have it blessed by a priest.
