Fr. William Appel
I would like to tell you about a very special Marine Corps Officer, Fr. William Appel.
Fr. Bill, as his friends call him, entered the U.S. Marines as an Officer piloting helicopters in Iraq. I cannot tell you many details about his service because he did not like to boast about his experiences, however, he made it clear that "once a Marine, always a Marine" and was proud of this brotherhood.
After his tour was over, he found his way to a new brotherhood: the Holy priesthood. After being ordained and spending a few years as a wonderful, pastoral diocesan priest, he recently was called back into military service, being shipped out as an Officer in the Navy. He will be serving his Lord, his country, and the Marines he loves.
We will miss him terribly, but are so proud to know him.
